I hope one of you experts can help me. I?ve been backing up my DVD?s for a short time now and every now and then run into a roadblock. Lately I hit more of a speed bump. This has happened to me before.

I was trying to back up Night at the Museum. I first ran it through the latest version of DVD HD Fab, and then I ran it through Vob Blanker. (here I just ran the one Video_ts file) and set those files to a folder on my hard drive. I then was going to reauthor with DVD Shrink. I could only get it to 73% compression (I?d prefer to be at 80 or above) I broke down and used one of my DL discs. Everything appears fine except when I go to play it on a machine. The move starts out fine, be when it gets to the menu I can do nothing. I can?t ?click? on the play movie. I press menu and it starts at the beginning again (20th Century Fox logo) I can then skip the chapter and get to the beginning of the movie.

Should I do something else? I hate to waste the DL discs.

Thanks!

Alan

When you use the "Re-author" feature of DVD Shrink, menus will not work. Did you start over, when doing the DL disc, or use the files after using VobBlanker?
I had no problem doing this movie with DVD Shrink w/Nero (movie only), and AnyDVD running in the background. Don't remember the compression, but it looks good on my 36" tv, and my friend's 50" tv.

My bad. I did not mention when I was burning to the DL disc I was not using reauthor I just opened files, so it was backing up the entire disc.

Reauthor looked fine, just a lower compression rate than I thought was OK.

You shouldn't even use DVD Shrink when burning to a DL disc...rip with DVDFab HD Decrypter and then burn via "Build" mode in Imgburn to DL.

No, Imgburn is it's own entity...an excellent and free one at that.

No need to search...here are the links you need:
