Is it possible?? I mean with an encoding program??

I have seen DVD recorders that allow up to 8 hours of video to be recorded on one regular DVD-R, so I am assuming it's possible to create a DVD out of media files on your computer with 8 hours of video on it..

I haven't found a program that can do it yet, I was wondering if someone could help?

I know the picture quality takes a good hit, but it's fine with me.

Anyone that can guide me would be my most bestest hero in the worldwide world.

Yes it can be done, but it will by lousy picture.
You will have to encode video at about 1140kbs and audio at 128kbs.
You can use this to calculate.

There might be a free software for conversion, but this one will do it, TMPGEnc Xpress. This software will not author DVD, for that there is TMPGEnc DVD Author, Nero or any other authoring tool.
Mind you some newer DVD players are capable of playing Mpeg4 (DivX or XviD) format. That would be more likely for what you want to do.

Try ConvertXtoDVD.
I have put eight hours on one disk.
It's like a low quality VHS tape, although the sound is fine.

8 Hours? Heh, Im doing that as i type! Actually about 7 but bah whatever.

I just got the new version of Tmpg Dvd Author 3. That program is the ultimate solution for encoding/authoring/burning. Seriously. Easy to use and makes menus/track lists with music and plenty of effects once you get good at it. Worth the cash, and a great investment.

At least use a dual-layer 8.5GB DVD so the quality isn't crap.
