There are already a few threads about this. But the answer is no, not if your console isn't modded. If you have the Xtreme firmware then it still won't play them either if it's a backup designed to play on the original XBOX.
As far as I'm aware there is no way to xtreme patch an XBOX backup...you can only patch an XBOX original.
