ok i have finally realized that i dont need to downgrade anything with my firmware. i am version 3.01 normal sony upgrade. now tell me if im correct or wrong, but i think all i need to do is download a 3.40 OE or somthing like that. now i dont know what to do next so can someone please explain to me step by step what to do after i have downloaded a 3.xx OE? all suggestions will be much appreciated thank you :).

No actually you still apparently have it wrong. You need to upgrade to Sony 3.03 then downgrade to 1.5 and then upgrade to whichever custom firmware you want

Austin, just go to "Firmware" section you'll find a lot good guide to guide you how to do that:)
