Simple Spring Update Question

I never use live, nor plan to, so I wasn't planning to install the spring update, my question is when I'm eventually forced to update via the spring update or an update on the disc to play a game, will I still be able to play backups?(not online). In other words, it won't disable my console from playing backups, it will just boot me off of live for good. Also, with all that said, should I just update to the spring update to get it over with?

It wont hurt your backup games. They will still play fine. You might as well download it now while you have the chance to get the new updates because either way you will be banned going on live or not.
