What is Hdd is it something specal and i have a fat Ps2 and a slim what one would be better to play burned games on also i was wondering how do you softmod a fat ps2 or a slim ps2 plz tell me cause i need alot of help with this and i dont use Swap Magic and im in the USA
HDD = Hard Disk Drive. It is a drive you can install to fat PS2 (for slim PS2s you need HDCombo) If you have one in your PS2, you can install games from it (through a disc or through FTP) and when you install games on HDD, they usually play faster and have slower loading times and many issues fixed. As for the softmod, you can check Tojikin's modchip FAQ in the Hardware Boot forum.
thank you so much for answering all my questions... do you know how to do memory card exploitation on your slim ps2??? and put an HDD to your slim ps2..?? if you know how can you give me a guide or directions (step by step)
thank you so much... i'm so grateful that I found this site
If you have versions 12 or 13, then you can install HDConnect. Otherwise, if you have v14 for example, you won't be able to install it. Then you have to install HDConnect, which you can get installed here:
You will also have to disable some sensors on your PS2. Use this guide to locate them: http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm I didn't use tape and tissue, but it gives you directions on where to find everything.
Now when the whole proccess is executed just choose usbadvance.elf instead of cogswap.elf
This can be done without a modchip or HDconnect. I modded my neigbors slim this same way. It will only cost the amount you find AR Max Evo, and a usb HDD adapter for. Make sure you get AR Max Evo edition or make sure the version you buy has media player in it and a usb stick. The guide says version 3.6 but I used Evo edition.
When you have it running let me know and I can stream line the proccess of playing DVD&CD backups for you. There is a step that is not actually needed but I don't want to confuse you at this stage.
Let me know if you are interested in this method and I will explain/help more if you like.
