Swap Magic 3.8 Coder + Codes = Black Screen

I just bought a Swap Magic 3.8. I have no problems playing my back-up games. However when I try to use any codes for the games using Swap Magic, it freezes on a black screen. It does not matter if I use the build-in SM3.8 codes or ones I added or if I boot my Gameshark/Codebreaker, then Swap Magic, then the game.

It even freezes on original games that I try to use with the build-in codes when I load Swap Magic, turning on the codes, and then loading the original.

Any idea what I can do to fix it so I can use codes on the back-up games?

P.S. I have CB v8.1 and the GS2 v1.2 and a PS2 v1(Fat)
