Dear Everybody,

I had :
- PS2 Player
- Adapter PS2 (Modem)
- Sony 40GB Hard Disk for PS2 (with games on it)
Now, I want to boot directly from the hard disk.
How can I do that ? I need the helps from everyone.
Can you show me the way to do ?

Oh... you mean loading a game directly from the HDD when booting up the console? i do not know if it is possible...

The only way I know of to boot from a hdd is with a mod chip. Normally the ps2 bios boots from the dvd drive. The modchip can make the bios read from a hdd. I have independence exploit on mine and it has to boot to cd first every time, then it can use hdd. I might be wrong, but I think mod chip is the only way.

There is a way to exploit it with regular PS1 disc. It's been a while I did this but you have to get 2 programs installed to your PS2 and have system file put in your memory card.
I think my statement is confusing. I'll find the thread regarding exploiting the PS2 with PS1 forum, and I'll repost again.

Well it depends on what he wants.
That is for a mem card exploit which I use.
But if I got his question right he wants to turn on the PS2 and have it go straight to HDD. A mem card exploit will not do that. The only way that would be possible is if your mod chip allows it as timeblade explained.

Well. If he do want it to be "turn on the PS2 and boot straight to HDD" scenario, I don't think it's possible with un-modded PS. Even with modded, I still doubt there's a way to do so.

You damn bet there is. Inferior modchips can direct boot ELFs from an HDD or a MEMCard in the push of the button when to console is loading up. Swap magic can direct boot ELFs from a USB device if detected. So he can direct boot the elfs, but he might be talking about direct booting the games themselves.

you're right, but if he wants to boot direct to HDD then a Mod Chip is the only solution. He could direct boot usbadvance.elf from the HDD then run what ever game he wants without using the PS2 DVD drive. With Swap Magic you still need the DVD drive. As for directly booting games from HDD then he's SOL as far as I know.
