NEW SYSTEM UPDATE - HELP!!!!

So, I downloaded the latest system update and its asking me to connect the controller with a usb cable and press the ps3 button. Well, my problem is that I have it hooked up and when I press the ps3 button on the controller the lights just flash on the controller and nothing else happens.... What should I do?

I dont know what I did but it's working now. Never mind. Thanks though. I hope the upscaling works good!!!!
