Hi, New to the forums, though have been reading a heap of them in the past few days.
I'm a big believer in the 'try before you buy' policy of p2p downloading, and as such have recently tried to get simcity 4 up and runnning. I must have read every post on here. I have a NEC DVD / CD-RW Burner, and after making a number of coasters with alcohol 120 have decided it probably isn't even a one sheep burner. In actual fact i don't want to make CD copies of the simcity 4 CD's, i just want to install it and run it so i can decide if i want to buy it. I tried installing from .cue + .bin CD's burnt in Nero, then put the no-cd crack in... no go. the hourglass icon flashes for a few sdeconds, then nothing. no running processes. I have tried every no-cd crack i could find. The alcohol CD's (i tried quite a few with a range of suggested settings, thanks Shooey and others) but these won't even install. Can I install from a virtual drive somehow? I will need a little help here! Alcohol 120 with CD1 image mounted gives me an error message cant find autorunGUI.dll when it trys to run. Any other programs where i can load an image and run the install program from the virtual drive? or is there a no-cd crack that really works somewhere out there for my nero burnt installation? Any advice would be a huge help, if i can't figure it out i may end up just buying the game without trying (and hoping it runs!) cheers.
Shoey

Go to options>data type record and enable "bypass efm error", then burn RAW DAO at 8x and launch the backup from your dvd\cd-rom, not your dvd burner . if you wan't to run the backup from a created virtual stealth drive then create 1 virtual stealth drive>mount any image of Sim City 4 (Safedisc 2.x) cd protected> minmize Alcohol 120% and enable all emulation (for now) and see if you can launch\play your backup.

Shoey :)

Hey thanks for the advice. I have loaded the simcity 4 CD 1 on my virtual drive, and that installed no problems. It asks for CD 2, which I mount, and it begins installing that... however the computer gets EXTREMELY slow, and it just keeps crunching and the installation basically stops... I have no option but to reset the computer manually. ANy ideas what is going on? does the virtual drive use up all my RAM so there is none left to do anything or what? The first disc installs VERY fast, but towards the end of it, it does slow down a little bit. Thanks
