like the title states... i've seen a really funny part in a movie and i want to chop it out resize it and use it as an avator (sad i know) but i'm a forum junkie and i love funny avators

the movie is on my hard drive and is in XviD AVI format

You can try TMPGEnc Xpress. It will let you cut out section and export in any format you like.
