3 hour encode seems a tad long but not unnaturally so. How long were you expecting? ANd what are your syustem specs?

I think raju is talking about a 2 day encode, not a 3 hour encode. This would make sense if you computer is pre-alton xp or pre-PIV. This is probably because you are trying to encode on the setting for slowest in quality. Because the Divx 5.1 encoder has implimented some new algorithms, the slowest setting is drastically slower than it was in earlier versions. The standard setting is equivalent to the slowest setting on divx 5.05. Raju, I suggest you try setting the quality vs time setting to standard and try encoding again. Expect a slightly longer encode time than you got in divx 5.05

Even with a P3-800 i did a complete DVD to AVI in 11 hours. Which is pretty good since i went with whatever settings were default. When i tweaked around with it i dropped it down to like 8-9 hours. Which is more than good enough for a P3

right, but I think raju's problem is he is using the new rd algorithm which is not a standard setting and makes the encode process much longer with divx 5.1
