ive got an acer 16x 10x 40x (yeh, its pretty old)burner. it worked fine with blindwrite for ages, and it could extract subcodes and things. then, i reformatted the computer and redownloaded blindwrite, and i tryed to extract an image with subcodes, and the computer froze. it kept freezing. it extracts fine without subcodes. ive reinstalled blindwrite, reinstalled patin couffin, used an aspi layer and ive got alcohol 120%. it always freezes when extracting subcodes and sub channel data, but it never happened before i reformatted! im using the same O/S and everything!
please help!!!!
thanks heaps

hi all,
Did you download from the same place each time before and after? maybe a download error? get the fule again just to make sure! also is it the same version?
have you windows xp? have you installed the aspi layer from adaptec.com?
did you move the drive to a new eide location? have you changed jumper setting for the drive? or added any new drives at all?
your problem does seem odd?
have you installed sp-1 for xp?
Thx...
Nothing here to see, move along folks.

It's the abiltity of your drive to read (or not) sub-q channel data\audio, NOT Alcohol 120% . SP1= WindoesXP Service Pack1. Can you provide your brand name model# of your dvd\cd-rom& cd burner? This would help soo much. You can find CloneCD 4.2.0.2 at our main website (http://www.afterdawn.com)>search

clone cd works fine, even when extracting subcodes. my cd rw is an acer but i dont know the model number. i think it is a problem with my aspi, so ill try to fix it. btw, in clone cd it says something like fix subcode errors. do you need to chek that box to make a working bakup of games? what does it do? thanks for your help

To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

You enable read sub-q channel data\audio primarily for SecuROM cd protection and it won't hurt if you leave this option enabled for backing up Safedisc 2.x. You do know your Acer is a "1 sheep burner" so you will need to "amplify weak sectors" in the write process for backing up Safedisc 2.x and enable "hide cd-r" in system tray. If you live in the USA or Japan this option isn't available so change the language (CloneCD) so you get these options or change the regional settings on your pc, read\burn, change them back (hehe).
In the write options (just before you burn, the option "don't repair sub-q channel is unchecked

Don't repair SubChannel Data: This box need to be ticked only for Playstation CDs that are LibCrypt protected. You shall not tick it for anything else. If this option can't be activated, it means that you CD-Recorder don't support writing of 96 bytes SubChannel Data: this is a hardware limitation, not a software limitation.
