Ive just today received my Swap magic plus coder 3.8 but the dvd will only go as far as the playstation logo prior to the Swap magic screen.
You can hear the drive on a repeat cycle pattern that continues indefinitely until you switch off.The funny thing is that i have probably tried the DVD disk 50 or 60 times today and it randomly loaded twice at different points in the day but thats it.The cd is fine,i googled my issue and the only relevant info was someone saying it is possibly the laser/lens but ive played GTA 3 (dvd) and i've watched 2 entire Dvd films on it with absolutely no problems plus if it was the laser/lens wouldn't the Cd struggle to load as well???Im no expert so i would appreciate some input or anyone else had this problem?
Im running a Slimline Ps2 scph-70003 PAL with magic keys 2 fitted (correctly before you ask!).
Cheers.

There's always the possibility that you received a "bad burn" on your DVD of Coder. If DVD's and CD's play fine, but Coder will not load, it more than likely can't be your laser.

You could also try taking your PS2 apart and cleaning it out (using a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol on the laser). If that doesn't help, I'd be contacting the company that you got Swap Magic from for a replacement disc.

It definitely sounds like a bad burn. The best way to confirm this is to test it on another PS2 to see if the problem is indefinitely the Swap Magic DVD you are playing. I had a similar problem as you and when I wanted a replacement, I got a new one with the small fee of paying a mere shipping and handling on the defect back to them.

Hi yeah but im not paying extra postage.Like i said in my letter that i enclosed with the disk "if your tests show the disk to work for you i STILL want a replacement as i paid for BRAND NEW disks and dont want scratches" .I dont think thats toooo much to ask now is it????

Did yours not boot as well?Ive got mine to boot twice!Sent it back.I think with me that MAYBE my ps2 laser is sloowly giving up and therefore finds certain depths of scratch's too much to read but you have the same problem and having googled this issue found quite a few similar. My cd boots EVERYTIME,what gives???

Since you decide to point out about your PS2's laser life span, then it could very well be your PS2's laser is wearing out and is getting old so it has problems loading any DVDs. Also, you have a slim PS2, correct? Those slimline PS2s have an awful ventilation system, and it should be mandated you rest periodically after an hour or two of play like what flanker22 pointed out. I also own a v15 silver slim PS2 and have had to pay special attention to it like it was as old as my old fat PS2 which is incredibly insane.
