If you want to ONLY be able to watch the movies on very selected standalone players or on your computer:
1. All you need to do is burn the movie (whether it is a MPEG, MPG, DAT or AVI file) onto the CD as a DataCD. It's that simple!. Some complications of course:
- If the movie is in AVI format you need to have the appropriate codeces (codecs are just a type of plugin shall we say, that lets you watch a movie). To see an example of a good codec configuration, visit http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608
- If your movie is a MPEG/MPG/DAT, you can burn that as a DataCD and watch it but it would probably be more useful if you encoded it to either an SVCD or VCD. In either case, you will need a software dvd player (i.e., powerdvd, windvd) to watch. See below for more.

If you want to be able to read on virtually every standalone and your computer:
- If you have an MPEG/MPEG/DAT file, open up a general purpose burning program like Nero, select either the Super VideoCD or VideoCD options and simply drag and drop the predetermined file onto the main burning screen. If it tells you that the file is incompatible with VideoCDs try using it for a SuperVideoCD (and vice versa). If they are both incompatible, then you need to reencode them if you have the patience or simply burn as a data cd for watching only on computers.
- If you have an AVI file or an MPEG/MPG/DAT that 'didnt work', you will need to reencode the movie into a special format suitable for standalones. For more info on encoding to (S)VCD with TMPGEnc: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/43085
