I've got my XBOX softmodded running an XBMC dash, is there anything similar that can be done with the ps2? I have a PS2/w a HD and also the swapmagic kit, but compared to XBMC it's a real PIA.

sorry if it's been asked before, I DID search first

Well, on an unchipped unit, you can buy coder 3.8, which will direct boot an ELF automatically from a USB device (if set to), the ELF can be a dashboard.

Dashboards include:

uLaunchELF
MyPS2

Direct booting these with a CODER 3.8 is the closest you'll ever get to a ''Dashboard Mod'' on an unmodded PS2.

is coder 3.8 the same exploit as the one that uses a ps1 game with a modified title.db file on the usb drive/memory card?

that myps2 looks pretty nice, can you run games on the HD from it?

Well i don't know, basically if Swap Magic detects a file named SWAPMAGIC.ELF in a directory called SWAPMAGIC in the root directory of the USB device, and the device is plugged into the PS2, then it will direct boot the file. I do not know if you get boot HD games with myPS2.

I tried a usb drive exploit that involves a ps1 game and i couldn't get it to work. the ps2 would not recognize the usb drive as a memory card. are some drives incompatible?

I know my PSP is. Try to get a Pendrive. Or buy the max media drive.
