Hi all. Let me start off by saying I've read and searched this and other forums, and have already created subs with sub station zero and added them to vcd. But...it's a very lengthy process.
See, I've got VCD's without subtitles. I like adding my own. I appreciate the free software options with virtual dub and tmpeg, but here is my process:
1> extract the .dat from the vcd and change the extension to .mpeg
2> load the mpeg with vdub and write the subs with substation zero
3> save the finished mpeg with subs as an .avi with virtual dub(frameserving to tmpeg apparently doesn't work with mpegs, only avis)
4> convert the avi(which i compressed with divx codec) BACK to mpeg1 with tmpeg
5>create the final vcd bin/cue with vcdeasy

I've also read that vdub will NOT save to prop mpeg format, hence the use of frameserving to save a step.
Just seems kinda silly to have to convert an mpeg1 to avi, then back to mpeg1, and losing quality in the process. Again, frameserving is a no-go with mpeg1s. Any ideas on an alternative method?
