Can i play emu's direct from disk?

I have swap magic and have seen ps2snes emulator and wondered if you need a hdd or weather if i get a copy of this on disk i can play it via my Swap Magic?

Yes. You can just burn the emulator and all your ROMs to a single DVD (all SNES games are about 1.36 GB) or a CD if you don't have that many ROMs, and boot it with swap magic (according to your media you burned it to) and have fun. Altough i'd rather to store all of that on the HDD because putting it on a disc is a waste of discs.

I know what you mean though i just dont get why someone would buy a hdd for at least 25 quid plus another 40 for the adaptor to fit it and then all your software to run the damn thing.Then youve got the disk version where lets say you bye swap magic plus tools 14.95 (1.00 p+p) and 100 of the best DVDR no more than 28.00.The only reason i can see is convenience and thats a high price to pay,isnt it?!Your down at the console switching it on anyway so for a few extra secs of disk swapping you save yourself loads of money! Appreciate the advice though mate cheers query solved.Can all the different console emulators go on a disk? Also,does the emulator and all the roms run off the same disk eg does it boot up the emulator and then offer you the roms in one foul swoop.Thanks again.

An HD is a nice alternative to playing games because of the promise of shortened loading speeds and such. Even I'm considering getting an HD because of several reasons, which are if you're interested to hear, to play games for as long and as many times as I want with longer longevity for my fat PS2's laser when playing Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, perhaps Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, but mainly, the Tales of games I've been playing and will be playing; to test guinea pig games I'll be making as boot tests like testing multi-game compilations and customizing the Guitar Hero 2 songs (I have a v15 slim PS2 by the way so taking these workable games on the go to a friend's house, relatives or wherever else is really nice); and to avoid the use of the custom PS2 flip-top cover AND slide card because I hate the thought of using both.
Mainly, my qualms and complaints about using the flip-top and slide card is because of two reasons. Most custom flip-tops you buy tend to scratch your disc needlessly unlike using a simple swap method when playing on the slim PS2s not worrying about scratches; however, the very recent slim PS2s in my experience have horrible overheating issues because of bad air ventilation, unlike the fat PS2s where the problems were non-existent for most versions, and a horrible fan. I know the point of playing backed-up games in general is to preserve the original so you wouldn't have to worry about these things, but I don't want to burn another copy because I'm being forced to.
Also, I believe there is a remedy to soften the weight of the cover from pressing down on your disc while your PS2 is spinning the disk, but it doesn't completely eliminate the problem and the only other alternative I know of to remedy this is to have your very own custom flip-top, which I have no expertise, knowledge and interest in doing so at the moment. So overall, I want to revive my fat PS2 with promise of longer gaming hours with no worries unlike using my v15 slim PS2 I bought where I have to spend extra time and care on it as though it were as old as my v5/v6 PS2. Quite sad really.
And sandy10, about the money. Well, it depends how you look at it. I mainly wanted to play import games and backing them up was a nice additional feature to use too that just so happen to have came along with using Swap Magic. However, think of it this way. Playing games off an HD using your fat PS2 would be a much better home entertainment system then using a slim PS2 which has portability going for it rather than the same performance you can get from an older generation of fat PS2s. Same could be said if you just had a fat PS2 only and wanted your PS2 to last a few extra years rather than risk wear on your PS2 and all its parts, prevent harming or damaging the condition of your store bought games and expanding your PS2 from a mere gaming system to watching movies and listening to music and such with such ease and convenience without the need for much technicalities.
Edit: Anyway, as for getting other emus to work, you can google those. I believe there was a Sega and N64 one too that could work on the PS2, but I don't recall exactly how it's done and if it was true.
Either way, I have a few more reasons why I opted not to use the flip-top AND slide card, but I'll just leave it at that...

How much is a blank dvd 20-25p!!!!! plus (no offence) but its a game console,thats it.I have a life as well,dont get me wrong your obviously more FASCINATED by the console than me but come on mate be real "Also, I believe there is a remedy to soften the weight of the cover from pressing down on your disc while your PS2 is spinning"!!!CHRIST MATE LIVE A LITTLE you can get 1 of your horrid breeze blocks (old Ps2)for 20 quid where i live.I was tempted to get hdd for my slimline but like i say THERES MORE TO LIFE!Basically with the console,software,adaptor,harddrive,etc,etc. you could get a 360.I dont want to use it 24 hours a day and how long do you expect new games to keep coming 6 more months perhaps???
Also,sorry but all this backing up my original copy nonsense dosnt wash,youll probably deny it till your old but i bet youve got copies that you dont actually have the original for.Do you reeeealy think thats the main reason for all this.If people were spending 30 - 40 quid on a game that didnt last because of quality i hardly think theyll go on to spend money on this and that to solve it.Ive never had a hgame stop working yet and anyone that has should realise the game isnt FRISBY!

Verbatim DVD+R Advanced Azo+ - 20 quid for 100,now that is not crap media.Not one bad burn and if you consider at the absolute rediculous that you will play 200 games.Thats still only 50 quid (inc.P+p).And these disks are good to last plus unless youve got the old breeze block Ps2 which the magic key mod can cause scratchs while removing media your not going to cause any damage.
