Do chips that support DVD-9 also support DVD+R (or -R) DL? Can anyone recommend a particular one over the other? I had a Duo3 in my last PS2 (was stolen from me at senior week :( ) and it was great until I tried to watch a DVD that was burned onto a DVD+R DL disk. Played fine on my computer and 360, but would not play on the PS2.

Most of today's chips support DVD9, i reccomned getting Crystal Chip 2.0 SLE

there is only one chip i know that will play a DVD9 game without it having to be patched, and that is a DMS4 Pro SE. The rest that support an original DVD9 disc will play a burned DVD9 if you patch it with Toxic DL Patcher before you burn it. And most only support DVD+R DL and not the -R. The 360 is made to play DVD9 so that is why it did not have a problem.

Personally i would buy AnyDVD and CloneDVD from Slysoft. These can take your average reatil movie and it will shrink them down and fit them on a normal DVD5. You will get a great copy and the quality difference is so minimum most people would never know. Plus it can also automatically remove the begining "coming soon" ads as well as trailers. And you can manually remove things like subtitles an forein languages which take up needed space because most people never need those.

DVD Shrink is free and can also do this as long as you know what region (PAL or NTSC) the movie is from. And with that you can copy any part of the movie you want. YOu can get the best quality if you copy just the main movie itself and nothing else. Or you can have just the movie and the extra features and nothing else. This will allow it to fit on a DVD5 which is much cheaper to buy and will play on any system, modded or unmodded.

No problem. That is what i started out with. Make the ISO with DVD Shrink to fit on a DVD5, then used DVD Decrypter or IMGburn to burn it. I always use to take out everything but the main movie by using the DVD authoring option for best quality. I never watch most of the extra's anyway. If you like them you can keep them and just eliminate the previews.

I only switched to AnyDVD and CloneDVD because they are an all in one, easy to use package. Plus they update the programs at least once a month. But they will cost you money unless you know a few sources to get versions on the net that will give you what you need to unlock the trial version and make it into a full registered version.

I thought the matrix infinity and the crystal chip SLE also support dvd9 dual layer backups.but i think they only support dvd+r Dual layer media as i've seen that option on the CC's bm menu.
