Playing PS1 games with analog sticks?

hey all - i just noticed that when playing PS1 games with the PS3 pad, the analog sticks do noting, im only moving with the d-pad. I went to the home button options, and its on digital; if i select analog, the controller doesnt respond. any ideas? i cant imagine everyone's playing ps1 games without the sticks.

what game are u playing because a lot of ps1 games were not compatible with dual shock dual shock was introduced late in ps1s life

Crap, you might be right.

right now: Castlevaina SOTN, PaRappa (1 & 2), MGS: VR, Herc's Adventures, FF anthologies, Incredible Crisis, few others. Maybe its that...crap. Tired of using the d-pad! I coulda sworn MGS and VR were both dual shock.

half of those games didnt use a dual shock controller, but mgs did. something is up with that.
