is it possible to get AVI files to play in windows media center?

Yes, anything you can play in windows media player you can play in media centre. All you probably need to do is install DivX or something.

You could try resetting Media Centre. Something obviously isn't working right. The first time I used MCE it wouldn't play music. This is what tech support told me to try.
