is there any way to film ps2 gameplay straight to a pc without a camcorder

You would need a TV tuner card or a TV tuner USB box like the ADStech DVD Xpress

I use the DVD Xpress and I am very pleased with it.

there is also some other very cool stuff on that site that i want to get, like the tv tuners do you know if they are any good

I own a TV tuner (not by that brand) and I like it a lot. It is a PCI card inside my computer that I sometimes use to play PS2 on my computer or to watch TV on it. The one I have is by WinTV which is supposed to be a good brand. Only some cards work with Windows Media Center in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Others need their own software which should come with it.
