When I watch Divx/Xvid movies the sound doesn?t match the picture. I have read other threads were the picture is a few seconds slower that the sound and stays like that throughout the whole movie, but this is not the same, it is not consistent, some times the sound will be a few seconds before the picture and some times it will match and other times it will be after the picture. Sometimes the picture seems slow.

I thought it was my PC being too slow so I got an upgrade (more RAM) and that seemed to solve the problem for a short while. But now it?s started again.

Can anyone please help me?

OK I tried that AVIfix and it worked on one movie and did nothing to another I tried it on. The one it worked on and fixed the problem but messed? up the picture quality with the colours running into each other making it difficult to watch. Is there any thing to fix this new problem?

Not sure Im afraid...AviFix tends to output useless files sometimes so you should just delete that file. I hope you had made a backup of that movie before you ran it through the program.

Im really not sure how your movies that started out fine developed problems later on. But this info could be helpful. Before these problems occured, did you install anything on your machine like some new codecs or filters, or codec packs? Most common problem with movies that were fine a few days ago and then start having problems, are the installation of codecs that conflict with the current ones on your machine.

Ok thanks for the help anyway.
I don't think its a codec conflict becouse i uninstalloed all my codecs and reinstalled them using this installation method http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608

Have you tried uninstalling all video codecs and only using FFDShow to decode movies?

This way you can really be sure if your problem is codec related or not.
