Yes, Winavi video converter is the fastest that I have used. I have an intel coreduo 6300 and with Winavi I can convert a AVI to DVD in 45 minutes. And the finish product plays on all my DVD players. It's a very useful program and reliable.

You can try Cucusoft MPEG/DivX/AVI/MOV/RMVB to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro,it is easy to use and powerful enables you to convert and burn any video file like MPEG/DivX/AVI/MOV/RMVB etc directly to DVD. It works great for me. here is a step by step guide, it's only $29, you don't need to spend more on other burner software.

My favorite software for this is the open-source program DVD Flick. It takes about 60-90 minutes to make a DVD. There are several advantages. #1- it's free. #2, it couldn't be easier. Select the file, choose a couple simple options, and hit burn. Nothing to think about. It increases the file size, so if your files are 3.6 GB you'd need to put them on different DVDs, but I think this is a highly useful program. Luck.
