GUN Saving Isues With Max Memory

If I am playing Gun and I have my Max Memory Card (32mb) the game will not read it. It will keep saying that there isn't a memory card in slot one. But once I put in a real 8mb one it works. The Max card has never given me any troubles with any other game. This is the memory card that does not need a bootup disk. The PS2 understands it, and can read it, even in Browser mode.

So anyone know why it won't read it?...Could it be that the game checks the original capacety of the card?
