I've tried to search for this but seen no real suggestions

My laser is shot, I have a V3. I was wondering where people have bought replacement lasers in the past and what places are good?

I have one question though. I've seen on some sites that its possible to get a replacement white cog wheel, which I assume is the cog wheel for adjusting laser height. On my V3, the cog wheel actually has a stop gap on it, where the laser won't turn past any more. People mention all the time in "Adjustment Guides" that their wheels can be turned 360 and all the laser will do is drop back down and reset. So I'm curious, has anyone ever tried replacing a wheel with a stop gap, like mine, with a non-stop gap one. I worry it wouldn't work because on boot, the Ps2 always does this cycling where it goes all the way in one direction and then goes all the way in the other direction, stopping dead center everytime. Would replacing it cause the system not to know when to stop?

just use google. PS2 parts or PS2 repairs. I found plenty of sites searching those two.

I found them too but my question was more aimed at how reliable some sites are in getting parts shipped and then having the part work.
