Hy, well its been about 15years ago that I did this.
Connecting 2 VCRs to play on 1 & record on the other. This was to copy
my own made vhs tapes to another Tape.

I can not remember how I did this . It was either using 2 rca sockets
or via the RF socket where the antenna would normally go. If anyone has
any diagrams or can explain in detail how its done ,please let me know.

Thank u very much, I tried with the typical 3 wire method 1st,but no luck because it has only one set of inputs on my target recorder.
Som as soon as I get a second rf cable I can try the rf method.

Also I am interested in the DV recordings method after reading some posts here.
I have always wondered about the Dv socket, because its sometimes also
revered to as firewire.

I want to transfer my vhs tapes to DVD, but my standalone vhs/dvd recorder combo does not allow for transfers .

I have a firewire socket on my acer notebook, and I have the same socket on my vhs/dvd recorder(called DV), so if I connect this ,would I see the vhs cassette play on my notebook ?

I am not sure if the DV and firewire sockets are for inputs or outputs
, do I need to install that speacial software or can any of my other
softwares that have "record from capturing device" be able to do
that ?

No, the firewire port on your VCR/DVD Recorder would be for input. For example if you wanted to hookup your camcorder to your DVD recorder to burn a DVD.
