Is there a noddy guide anywhere with exact step-by-step details on how to upgrade from Commando 6 to Commando 8.2

I tried this last week and ended up with no premiun channels. I then downgraded to Commando 6 ok.

I've read that I need to save and copy /var/keys to the new version. Is that the whole directory or just a few files. There is also talk of other files, /emu, that require saving then copied over.

Can someone who's done this please list everthing that needs saved and copied to Commando 8.2?

Thanks

Just get acopy of some magic files
Here if you want them
Open the folder and copy and paste the whole contents
Into var/keys via FTP
Right click and change attributes to 755
Go back to your box and put it on BBC1
Then leave it on sk* sports 1 till it comes on
I would go with COMMANDO 8 me self...........Paul

i've just done exactly that - Commando 6 > Commando 8.2... it's almost working trouble free, bit of a work in progress.

* Backed up my current setup and FTP'd off.
* FTP'd Commando 8.2 onto it
* Flashed it, rebooted and installed it
* on the PC Extracted using tuxbox the var/keys folder and the /ucodes folder
* FTP'd those folders onto the box in the correct locations
* chmod the /var/keys folder to '755'

Easy.

Then, i re-selected my cable provider (which was different than when it was on commando 6 - go figure!) and did a full scan. Also, Evocam was working on v6, it was mgcam on v8.2 that worked best.

Spent the last few days with 'Bouquet Wizard' sorting everything out...

Now my only problem is the EPG on a couple of movie channels that i can't seem to sort

Looks like i choose the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

I use SmartFTP Client, seems to work.

Is it all the contents of /var/keys that needs saving from an old version of Commando or is it only the key files withing the keys directory?
