psp iso files wont unpack correctly

ive just reformatted my hard drive and when i try to open psp games i have saved to disc they open up into a number of files and not iso/cso which they are packed as.i use WinRAR and have tried WinZIP but they both do the same.this was ok until i reformatted hope someone can help me.thx

those are packed archives-I am guessing that when you go to your saved games you have a folder that has a bunch of files in it? ex: "yourisogame_r.00", r.01, r.02, ..etc..? if thats the case you would need to extract the first folder in the series which would be the r.00 archive and extract using WinRAR to a folder on your computer. Hope that helps.

no the files are saved as rar,so when i extract files here the only thing it does is make an exact copy of the file.then i extract again and it makes about 6 different files some even have pics of the game etc?

no ive tried all the above and still no good iget the following in 1 folder after unpacking 2 folders named usrdir and sysdir.3 pic files showing the name of the game and 3 im unable to open called ICON1.PMF
PARAM.SFO SND0.AT3.hope this helps at its sure as hell got me beat.

looking at it when it unpacks it is doing so in files and not iso/cso as they have been saved.music files are opening ok so it just with the psp games im having problems with?

if after you extract you have a PSP_GAME folder and the UMD DATA.BIN file you need umdgen to generate a iso
start umdgen drag and drop the PSP_GAME folder and the UMD DATA.BIN file to where it says "no items to show" and then save as a iso or cso (compressed iso)

if you have another working iso in your pc open that iso with umdgen to see how the files should be

tried that and file saved as a WinRAR.when extracted same thing happens.the save as iso is that brought down using the file button as the program doesnt fit fully on my screen so i cant c the bottom?

after you generate a iso with umdgen if you get a rar file is because you have WinRAR associated with isos

tried that as well.what it looks like is when im extracting the files they now look like a WinRAR file instead of the disc image like it used to.

Doesn't matter what it looks like, it's still an iso file.
Ok, here's what you do exactly. Start with the WinRAR file you initially downloaded. (They should have an extension of .rar). Now extract that ONCE. You said you get an exact duplicate of that file? This duplicate should be an iso file (with extension .iso). Just place that in the ISO folder in your psp.
P.S.
It might be easier for you to see which file is which, if you un-hide the file extension. To do this, go to a folder, on the top go to
Tools -> Folder Options...
Click on View tab on top
Un-check the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types"
#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

think ive solved it.what it was some of the games were saved in WinRAR some just iso but the WinRAR associated itself with the iso so when ive been extracting them thats why im getting files.the iso used to look like a disc on a folded corner bit of paper but now its just the WinRAR motif.thx 4 all ure help

The disk thing sounded it's from Isobuster or clonecd. Can't remember now. You might have one of those installed before. If you really want to get it back, reinstall that, and iso's should associated themselves with those programs
