ICS between vista and xp

Hi, i have a vista basic edition laptop and a desktop running XPSP2. I've used ICS before between my Xbox 360 and Vista laptop and it worked flawlessly. But, i'm having trouble trying to get my desktop to recgognize my vista laptop. My connection is that my laptop connects wirelessly to my router and i use an ethernet cable between my two network cards on both devices. Thanks!
