Is it a fake memory stick?

A 1GB Lexar memory stick came with my used psp when i bought it. So i was wondering if it was a fake.

And does a fake memory stick have more chances of bricking your psp from a downgrade?

it doesnt matter about your memory stick as long as you dont pull it out while downgrading/upgrading...

in your PSP menu-scroll to the right till you get to the memory stick icon under the game icon-hit triangle so you get the information side bar,that will tell you whether or not your memstick is fake-if it says "unknown" or "unsupported" after the MagicGate, then its fake..

Oh and dEEz_nUtz, i checked for that "unknown" you told me and there was nothing written for a title, no magicgate. It just says User Capacity: 949 MB and just below it is the Free Space.

then you should be good.....I happen to have a fake 2 gig memstick, and it works fine for me.

Not too many fake 1 gig sticks out there-usually only the 2 & 4 gigs you find on eBay from the HongKong sellers...
