im having a party at my house in a couple of days and i want to try to do this:
-rip several music dvds (performances) into my laptop.
-play random chapters from the entire library of ripped dvds.
the goal is to have music and entertainment, so the laptop will be connected to tv. the reason i want random chapters of the dvds is becuase they are nearly all live performance dvds and if i just play them through... its rather boring and ill only get 1 or 2 dvds played through before the night is over. so i would rather play random chapters (tracks). its basically like a mix cd of music, but with video attatched to each song.
i guess the simplest way to pull this off would be to use a 5 disc dvd player? im sure it has a function whree you can randomize the chapters throughout all 5 dvds right? though... im sure its also model specific and the loading woudl take a few seconds so there would be a definite lag between chapters.
what program would i use to maintain the chapter cut off points, so that i could later queue them up.. or randomize them for replay?
but getting back to my main point, is it possible to do this over a library of chapters from seperate dvd rips?
finally, if all else fails... i could just ripp the dvds and edit/cut them up on the chapters resulting in 1 video file per chapter. then just load all the video files/chapters of all the dvds into a playlist and randomize that... but this woudl take a lot of time, especialy with the editing. though, if this is the only scenario possible... whate the best way to go about doing this method? (cutting up ripped dvds to make 1 vid file per chapter, without having to spend much time )
thanks for reading, im a total n00b when it comes to dvds on pc. bit of a long post... but i like to be thoughrough
meh...
