Hello! Can anyone please help me in burning a dvd my stupid computer is just about to be chucked to the tip. I have been using DVD Shrink and it is now not working due to an I/O device error what ever that means. I have downloaded dvdFab and tried burning through Nero but it is telling me that it is unable to burn dvd. So please could some one give me some instructions on how to burn a dvd? I'm blonde of course. LOL

Clarkey80, Blonde or not....please have a little patience. Both of your threads are basically the same thing, so I asked the mods to close one of them. :)
A little more info would be nice about the I/O error...what exactly was shown? Are you using Shrink by it'self to decrypt, rip and backup your movies? What other software besides shrink and Nero do you have? What brand of media are you using? what speed have you been using so far with that media?. Don't panic....help is on it's way.
Cheers.

I gave you some suggestions that should help here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/527966
But.....
Nero version...Nero API version: 5.5.10.44
This is an old version of Nero, but it looks like you installed another old version of Nero 6 over Nero 5. You really should of uninstalled Nero 5 first then install a newer version.
A quick look shows that the burn process is failing because your burner is unable to correctly recognize the DVD media you're using as seen here:
Media Specific:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
02 FE 10 00 02 FF A0 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
Your burners firmware is outdated, you need to install the latest version to hopefully correct this problem. the latest is version A209, you can get it here:
http://121ware.com/support/download/005/gsa4082a209.exe
Just run the .exe file to install.
If this doesn't correct the problem, then try using other media like verbatim or sony DVD disks (although theses guys are very good Disc Manufacturer: TYG02 -).
Also, instead of burning at 8x, try slowing it down to 4x.
Note: If Nero is giving you trouble, try using imgburn as I suggested in your other thread.
