Like the noob i was, I purchased a 50 pack of Matrix media from shop4tech. This was my first purchase of media from an online merchant.
The first 3-4 dvd's came out ok. About 1.5 - 2 weeks later, I was unable to burn anything. I tried different programs (iDVD, Toast), i tried different hardware (G4, intel) and went through 15+ plus coasters over another 2 week period.
Then the original 3-4 that originally came out ok stopped working in my DVD player at home.
The media was bad. I just didn't have much to compare to...looking back I could see de splotches and blotches around the inner circle. Perhaps the dye was breaking down...
I read other reports of bad Matrix media. Shop4tech sent me 2 disc of their new matrix media admitting in the their had been some past qualit control problems and hoping that I would purchase some more.
I sent back the unused media (around 30 blanks) and received a partial credit.
I feel that I should have received full credit. shop4tech says they will only refund if I send in the defective blanks. So not only do I have to spend my own money on shipping the defective merchandise back, I have to remember to send back all of the "dead bodies" (shop4tech term).
Visa says they can also not help me since i would have to send the defective blanks back
I'm at a loss. I was sold defective merchandise. I'm not trying to scam shop4tech. I think shop4tech knows about Visa when they hung up on me after saying that i would dispute the charge with Visa. Its a darn shame cuz I ordered 50 ritechs with a friend and have been very satisfied with them and am ready to order another 100. I would have been a good customer.
This stinks. I guess the moral is
a) hold on to defective blanks
b) customer service at shop4tech isn't the greatest
You're in the wrong. You should have sent everything back in the first place. I know their customer service has left you feeling shitty, but you've got to play to the rules if you're ever going to win.
shop4tech are working to fairly slim margins in a highly competative market, they cannot afford to be egregious when it comes to returns and refunds.
Sorry dude. Mark it down to experience, and move swiftly on ;-)
I've ordered from them in the past and for the most part, their stuff is crap (and I didn't buy the cheap stuff either). They should stand behind their products, or at least weed out the garbage before they send it to you. I've stopped ordering off the wall media (like Optodisc, house brand, etc) and I'm sticking with Fuji, Verbatims, Sony, TDK and Maxell. And if you look at the weekly sales most stores are having, you can get a much better deal on the name brand media than you can with Shop4Tech and the others.
