I use:
Ad-aware
AVGFree
ASquared
I unfortunately ran a particularly dodgy .exe file a couple of weeks previously and now I am running into near constant trojan horses attempting to run and pop-ups opening. AVG allows me to put the trojans in quarantine but even after a complete scan the trojans come back after the next reboot. They appear to be running from the Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files directory.
I also have various pop-ups that keep appearing.
I will install HjT and post a log file as well if you think it would help.
PLEASE guys any help is appreciated

ok.
Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of a third party firewall.
As the term conveys, a firewall is an extra layer of security installed onto computers, which restricts access to systems from the outside world. Firewalls protect against hackers and malicious intruders. I want you to download a free firewall NOW from one of these excellent vendors:
1) ZoneAlarm
2) Agnitum
3) Sunbelt/Kerio
4) Comodo
If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. This means that any malware on your computer is free to "phone home" for more instructions. Simply put, Windows XP contains a mediocre firewall. This firewall is NO replacement for a dedicated software solution. Remember to use only one firewall at the same time.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
* If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
* Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
* Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
* Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
* Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
* Login on your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode:
Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files (if present):
C:\WINDOWS\VirtualDNS.dll

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
* Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
* This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it.
This is only a short scan.
* Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
* Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
* Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
* Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
* Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
* Click 'Yes to all' i at the right, and the scan will start.
* Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
* When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
at the right, and the scan will start.
his will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
* After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
* Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
* Close Dr.Web Cureit.
* Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
* After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply

Jep, i think trojan vundo didn't leave..
Let's use combofix:
Please download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combo.exe to launch the application.
Follow the prompts that will be displayed on the screen.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

That's cool, never knew that. Thanks ;)
Have you tried VirtumondoBeGone for removing Vundo? If AntiVir can flag it as a possible virus it must be pretty powerful.
