Have you scanned under the chorus mms option. make sure you choose the correct provider.
Let us know how you get on.
If this doesnt work pm me your email and i will send you the cable.xml file for your area then all you need to do is ftp them into the correct place on your dreambox reset the box then do the scan again.

Finally got a cloned 500c from china and with Chris's image I've managed to get the box working. Although I do get most of the channels I'm not getting any of the adult channels. Is there anything I can do to change that??

You need to get someone with the services from your area with the channels to give you there services file then ftp them over mate.

Hi Guys,
Sorry in interupt your fun with something as boring as a question. :)
Does anyone know of a DM500 image that has somesort of codec pack in it. The images i've tried so far only support mpeg files from shared folders.

Its the internals on the board that has the mpeg 2 playback mate.
basically thats the only file thats supported.

Its not the answer I was hoping for, from what is discribed/sold as a 'Linux Box' but Thanks for the quick answer. :)

Hi there, I have a dreambox 500c and managed to flash my box and copy over the rom 7, 10, 11 bin files to try and enable my box to auto-update. I ensured all the CHMOD files were set to 755. I have rebooted my box and still can only view the freeview channels. I re-scanned my box and ensured the "free channel only" box was unticked. When the scan had finished it said I it had found lots of channels but when I go to view them I get a blank screen for the pay channels. My dreambox image is a wizard basic one I think. Any ideas? I feel as though I am only one step away - Help please!

Ok first things first. You will need a program called dreamup. I will post it in this link for you.

Then download this image. The null modem one. Save this to desktop.

You need to plug the null from the box to pc.
With the dreambox switched off start up dreamup program.
Then untick use network box. Then click connect. Startup the dreambox.
It will connect. The flash box will then open. Click this it will ask for image. The image you downloaded open that. Then it will flash the image to your box.
Get back to me once youve done this mate.

FRESH INSTALL IMAGES I PROMISED
Ok Guys. Heres images for both null modem and flash wizard.
This is a fresh image not a backup of my box.
I started from scratch so it is just a working image.
The images have autoroll and have scanning for every service provider.
Once installed it will ask you to do a scan. There is a list of diffrent scan i.e uk, ntl ireland etc
Make sure you scan your area.
Once you have done this. select a channel wait at least 1 minute if the channel does not start press the blue button and press ok on evocam 2.12. This will start the cam. And you will get your channels.
This is a fix for everyone and especially the irish boxes so that you dont have the double channel problem

I have flashed a box using both methods and can tell you now that they work.

I am in the Teesside area on NT*L - Not sure if I should be re-imaging or not as its not my box and I am hopeful that it is something minor. I have loaded the files onto my dreambox and my brothers and those came back on straight away as soon as I plugged the boxes back in. Also I don't have a serial cable, I am using the network cables and seems to connect and flash fine using Flash FXP

Its not the answer I was hoping for, from what is discribed/sold as a 'Linux Box' but Thanks for the quick answer. :)
I know that newer dreamboxes have more capabilities like diffrent encoding and hd playback and recording but this little box is an 1/8th of the price.
I convert my movies into mpeg2 and play them back which doesnt disturb the quality whatsoever.
If you want to play back movies and record from your dreambox i suggest you look for a good video convertor.

Thanks I am really busy at the moment and to be honest fixing my mates box is not the top of my list so I'll take a look at these files at the weekend and have a bash.
When I copied the rom 7, 10, 11 files across I overwrote the old files when it prompted me to.
Anyway I'll have a tinker when I get more time and let you know how I get on.

I know the DM500 is the at the bottom of the 'capabilities list' and as such is the cheapest of the Dreamboxes. Thats why I bought it to as a 'Test' box, before spending out on a DM7025.
Ignoring the hype from the sellers, I checked on forums (including at least on other that you are on) with DM500 owners about its capabilities, and was lead to belive it could do the job of both my Vermin box and Xbox with XBMC (i.e. watch Recorded TV and Download videos over a network). Meaning I'd have one less box under the TV.
The reality as you've helped to point out in your answer, is its possible as long as you go to the trouble of installing and setting up other programs on the PC's in your network, to do the work for the DM500. Not something that my family members could or would do. Hence my dissapointment.
BUT...
That dosen't mean it isn't a great box.
Athough it tiny, it the picture quaility is fantasic.
Its certainly better than the subed Pace box you've got, and its size makes it ideal for installing inside a PC case, making a self contained MCE.
Which I'm hoping will replace both Vermin box and the Xbox, under the TV. :)

Any dreambox is good. If you notice on the DVB forum here people with eurovox, starview and the box super are havin the most problems how many problems have the dreambox peeps having?
I rest my case.
Dreambox is the way to go.
