Folks, I've searched through pages of Snes emulator questions however had no joy finding anything relating to my problem! Can anyone help me out so I can recapture my youth playing Zelda? :)

I have an old style PS2, the large one V9 or V10. It's got a flip top, is fitted with a harddrive and I have both HDAdvance 3.0 and Swapmagic 3.6. It is not fitted with any form of modchip.

I have followed the numerous guides listed showing how to create a CD image on my desktop, limiting the ROMS to 8 characters in length. I have then burned the CD-R, and tried to load it using Swapmagic. No matter which program I use to burn the CD-R though I get the error "Not a valid PS2 disc".

I've tried burning at all the speeds available in Alcohol 120 (for some reason the lowest I can get in any program is 10x), I've tried different brands of disc. Has anyone had similar problems and overcome them? I'd be grateful of any suggestions!

here is a link to snes-station's official guide.
you'll want to use the bit about unmodded ps2's near the bottom.

It is odd that you can only get as low as 10x, because i'd really reccomend less than that, (but more than 1x).
if you still have problems, let us know.

I had already followed the instructions outlined on that page, without luck. I'm thinking that perhaps I've gone wrong with the re-naming of the ROMS, whilst trying to get them to the required 8 character lengths.

When using GoodSNES to re-name, it automatically changes them to long file names (for example: Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past (U) [!].smc). I've read all the documentation but can't see a way to alter them to names of my own choosing, and as such have re-named them by hitting F2 altering.

Is this perhaps where I'm going wrong? Can anyone who's had any experience of altering ROM names advise me on how to go about doing it? Or failing that, can anyone advise me of places in the West of Scotland that I can get a PS2 chipped? :)

Thanks!
