PSP Laser Problem

Woo...first post. Ahoy everyone.

Ok, so here's the deal. I got this psp from a buddy for free, because he couldn't figure out why it wasnt working. It won't read UMD's.
When I look at the laser and spindle, the laser seems to move to the right until it hits the spindle, at which point it simply moves to the right a millimeter or two and repeats the process.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm hoping to keep the process relatively cheap, seeing as how I've spent 0$ so far.

Thanks for that link man... very informative.

So it seems that both the laser and motor are working properly, and it IS on the track, but xevi0us's post on the 2nd page is what interested me... I've tried moving the laser to the left, but I may try doing what he said and moving it 2-3 clicks to the right of the spindle, which is the correct position according to him.

I'll post up my results.

Good luck fixing that thing. Because if you do end up replacing the whole drive, it will be very troublesome.
