Hi, I have just bought PS3 and Prepare to use a Dell LCD monitor for video display. Thus, I need a HDMI-->DVI cable. I bought a cheap cheap one for ~US$15.

Q1. However, will the cable plays any role in the visual quality? Should I buy another expensive and better one?
Q2. And, will the cable have to be HDMI version 1.3 too?

The only compliant with DVI is its video only and you will need separate audio cables.
The actually quality of the picture depends on what your moniter can display.

Hey neuston, i got a PS3 hooked up to my Philips 42" HDTV Plasma via DV-I and the quality is superb, have optical cable running through my Yamaha Surround Sound system and im my opinion the results are awesome.Both HDMI and Optical cables are "average" brands and i cant tell the difference to my mates £50 Monster cables. Thats just my two cents.Happy Gaming!

I got an under $10 HDMI-to-DVI cable from a seller on Amazon and it works fine. I think as long as it's gold-plated, it should be okay for awhile. I use it to hook up my Macbook (also with the mini-DVI to DVI adapter). I also hook up an optical cable to my Yamaha receiver.
