Im getting an error trying to durn a dvd

I/O Error!

Device: [1:1:0]_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A 1.05(E:) (ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CBD: 2A 00 00 00 0B 80 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10)-Sectors: 2944-2975

Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Write Error

Update your firmware to the latest - 1.07.

If you're not already burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the media.

What media are you using - like Sony +R 16x?

for the update do i have to do the 1.05 and 1.06 first before the 1.07?

You should be able to go straight to 1.07 - if for some reason you can't then try 1 below and then try the latest.

Good media - set the burn speed to 8x.

I downloaded 1.7 tredi agaimn same error tried it earlier at 10x and got further than I have before but still errored out..any other suggestion???

Ive tried that to just use it w/ write speed of 8 still same problem

Ok when you downloaded the firmware did you flash/update the drive?
1.07 now showing as the firmware?

You can see it in this line of the log - Device: [1:1:0]_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A 1.05(E:) (ATA)


Still failing then try different media - Verbatim is usually very good - amybe a bad batch (?).
Try some made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

You can also try burning at 4x.
