Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Flip-Top and Swap Magic 3.6 Combo for my Slim PS2 but I'm having some worries and questions about it.

Q1: When installing the Flip-Top, do I have to be careful for any power ribbons/cables that may come loose when I take the PS2 apart?

Q2: I have Maxwell 16x DVD+R discs. If I set the write speed at 8x(as indicated in this guide), would it be suitable?

Q3: What's the best place to buy a Slim Flip-Top/Swap Magic 3.6? When I mean best, I mean BOTH quality and price.

I'd appreciate it if these questions were answered. AfterDawn Forums is the place I hope to find them.

For the slimline you'll need the swap tool-set not the flip-top.
As for the rest, I can't advertise. I would just do a search on swap magic and swap tool or even swap magic set.

Swap Tool-Set? I've been looking at this website and they have a special flip-top especially for the Slimline. Now, shouldn't it work? I'm a total newbie at it so i'd like as much information on it as possible.

If yours is the new slimline V15, you'd want this as it's the best price I found for $29 shipped....

the magic keys or whatever you guys call it now a days... is all you need for the slim ps2... because it makes the lid act like a flip top... allowing u to open and close it at anytime... there are no dis-advantages. its all the same if your using swap magic... swaping is in the name.. but with the big ps2.. V11 and lower.. or whatever it was... its either a flip top... or a slide tool... which i went with the flip top...

So you're recommending magic keys over flip-top cover for slimline ps2? Because i got v12 black slimline and i thought the Flip-Top was best for that, but now you're a bit confusing me with that lol.

So the Magic Keys are THE BEST for v12+ slim ps2?
And the Flip-Top cover is not(the best choice for v12+ slim ps2)?

I just went with what I found to be the cheapest method.
One of the tools have been claimed to be difficult to install but there is an alternate tool that can be used but the case has to be opened up.
If you had an easy time with the flip top, you might want to recommend it over the magic keys.
It was seriously difficult to install one of the tools. I spent 30 minutes trying to make sure it would work and still allow me to close the lid. I wouldn't quit because even though there was an alternate tool to use instead, it required the case to be opened and that was the last thing I wanted to do. I still have the warranty and I wanted to keep it.
So, I guess the question would be, is the flip top less of a hassle, and does it void your warranty from opening up the system and also, is the warranty even an issue with your system...
Hope that helps.
