Hi! Im kinda new to this whole DVD-burning thing. I just got my burner last week, so I wanted to try playing with it yesterday.
I was making a backup copy of one of my DVD-s. (The Italian Job) and I followed the guide found here on After Dawn.

The DVD Shrink wouldnt unlock the cd, so I had to rip it from the dvd using dvd Decrypter. But since it was over 4.3 GB I had to open all the files in DVD Shrink off of the hardrive, and change some stuff (I couldnt find the option to delte it?? Just put it at the lowest quality possible - still pictures). So I got it the size to fit on a DVD-R and then had to reencode it once again to my hard drive.

I then burned those files using nero (puttin nothing in the Audio_TS folder, just put all the files under Video_TS to a blank DVD-R.
So basically, I finished and was all happy, then I put it in my burner on my Comp. to play it, and the menus played, and the videos played, but there is no sound!

Can anyone please please tell me a better way to this for DVD-9 or what I did wrong with the sound?

Thanks so much in advance!

hi all

it may be that you ripped it twice that has caused a fault?

to unlock the dvd just play it in powerdvd for 5 mins! then DVD Shrink will rip it! also is your folder called this VIDEO_TS not Video_TS

let us know how it goes!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

so you couldn't rip with shrink and had to rip with decrypter--so far so good.

Open the files with shrink to compress--ok that's right.

change some stuff-- exactly what did you change, what were you trying to delete, did you uncheck the audio streams of the movie by accident. (i always will leave all the english ones in--some movies will have more than one english audio stream and if you take one out, it will be the default one and you will have to select the audio to hear the sound--no insert and play)

If all you want is the movie, rather than making some things still pictures, reauthor the disc and put the movie only in it.

You burned correctly by putting everything in the VIDEO_TS. you don't need the audio_ts at all. (I never burn them on my back ups)

The only change to audio I made was that I removed the 2channel english and just left the 6 channel on the main movie.
I thought that might be the problem, but then I realized that I left all sound on the extra features, however I cant hear any sound there either...
It could be that I ripped it twice, or encoded it twice, but Im not sure. I didnt realize I could unlock it by opening the Power DVD.
The folder in Nero was called VIDEO_TS sorry, I made a mistake in my first post.
Hmm, maybe I will have to play around a little more... Ill keep ya posted!
Thanks a bunch guys!
