PSTwo shuts off when I close the lid

I bought a slim PS2 (PSTwo) a few days ago - one of the new silver kind. I tried to disable the back sensor and wound up breaking it off. I read here that I could place tin foil and tape over the sensor, so I tried that - to no avail. Then I read you could solder wires to all of the connections.

Well, I'm a dumbass. I didn't read any further into it, and I soldered all four points together.

When I try to shut the lid to my PS2 or manually push in that sensor, the PS2 simply shuts off. I have no idea why. It could be because:

1) I'm using a line of solder instead of putting in wires - but putting wires in didn't help.

2) There's still a connection (an invisible one?) between all four points, and the outer two points fuck it up like that.

3) Sony did something to the new PSTwos that makes this fix not work properly.

Ideas? Thanks

its not ilegal to open up a ps2...when u open up a ps2 thats voiding the arranty
