ports,system info, vista home premium 32 bit?

Hi

I have an amd64 x2 32 bit, vista home premium, 160 sata hd, 100 free,
2gb ram, onboard nvidia 6150 i believe, i have never had fire wire before, but i requested it from the builder, on the back of the case near the bottom , there are 3 ports that have a rectangular shape with an arch on top, are they the fire wire ports?

Why do some usb hookups have to be done on the back of the case vs the front to work? I installed anew canon printer yesterday and i switched the usb to the rear and the driver connection was recognized, but it would not on 3 of the 4 in front, one is inactive because of a card reader?

Also under device manager i can not find names of drives, memory, etc, how do i find that?
