Halo 2 Mods: How to play co-op over system link up

Hey i was just wondering if anybody knew how to mod Halo 2 let me play co-op over system link up. I tried to by renaming one of the single player maps "headlong.map" and then loading headlong but it only gave me a black screen. I could pause it and it gave me story mode pause options like loading the last checkpoint but no matter what i hit i just got a black screen. Does anybody know how to do this?
