Hey Everyone

This is my first posting so go easy on me.
I've had my ps2 (NTSC) for long time (at least 6-7 years)...and I've always had it modded using the gameshark mod. Unfortunately I'm not too sure of the gameshark version.

Well my problem is, I have never been able to play backed up DVD ps2 games. All I have been successful with is backed up CD ps2 games. I have successfully backed up psx games and ps2 games on CD...so playing CD back ups is not an issue.

To provide further detail...I always use Alcohol 120 to burn all my game images and i follow these steps to play backups
1. Load gameshark
2. Select "start game"
3. Select "without codes"
4. Eject the gameshark disk and put in the backed up CD game...close the tray.
5. Push "X" to start game.

I'm sorry if this was already answered anywhere cuz i've searched and was unsuccessful so I figured to should just start my own thread. It seems not much ppl are using the good ole gameshark method anymore and I'm pretty sure there's got to be a way to play backed up DVDs without further modifications. If anyone has any information regarding how to play backed up DVD games using Gameshark please please let me know. Whether it be posting a link to another thread or anything...I thank you all in advance.

its not possible to boot dvds with gameshark. you need swap magic or a modchip.

Wait, is that Gameshark disc you have in CD-ROM format or DVD-ROM format? Just look on the data side of the disc and if it's purple, it's CD-ROM, if it's silver, it's DVD-ROM.
