I'm trying to back up Ape Escape 3 for my kids, and, while the original plays just fine, the backup will hang at some pretty consistent points in the game. The backup plays fine for the first 1/3rd (or more) of the game, and then it locks up entirely. The only way to get past the lockup point is to shut off the system, put the original back in, fire it up, play past that scene, save, power it off, put the backup in, and play again.

Kind of defeats the purpose of a backup. :)

I've made sure that the PS2 is nice and cool, and I've visibly checked the backup and original for any scratches. I've made a couple of backups of the disc thinking that it might have been the backup disc itself but each backup behaves the same way.

I've had successful backups of a bunch of other games, and I noticed (a while back.. I've only just gotten around to asking about this) that xpert2 has an Ape Escape 3 plugin, which makes me wonder if there is some special method to backing this particular game up.

Has anyone had any problems with their AE3 backup?
