Whats the safest way to back up ps2 dvd to harddrive (for future burning)

The little foolish me has just found out that I have been had with one of those big DVD sales. I bought 2 packs of 100 discs of crappy TDK cmc mag am3, and the best thing is, they cant be refund because the sale comes in 2 packs and i already opened one pack and used 2 discs, woot!

anyway, i dont think i can buy more dvds now since i am stucked with 200 of them. So i will have to use them up first somehow by burning some crappy movies and anime first... sigh...the agony...

I am wondering the safest way to backup the ps2 dvd that i rented from blockbuster to my harddrive for future burning when i purchase some better dvds... at any rate, my ps2 is not modded yet, since i just purcahsed it and i dont want to lose the warranty, so i will be modding it after an year or so when the warrantys out.

so, if i were to back up the ps2 dvd into my computer, what method is safest that will guarantee 100% success when i burn them to dvd in the far future (i dont want to rent them again becuase of bad iso or mdf file >.<)?

So far, the two ways that i found out from several stickied topics are using alcohol making an mdf file or using dvd decreypter making an iso file. which way is safest, as in that iso or mdf will be guaranteed to work in the future? and whats the difference between these 2 methods?
I heard that dvd decreypter can crack some code from dvd, so does that mean alcohol can't crack or dont need to crack any code?

First off i would not mention that you are backing up rented games in a public forum seeing that it is highly illegal.

But your best bet for storing your games would either be a large internal hard drive on your PC, like getting and installing a second drive just for PS2 use.

Or getting a slightly more expensive, reliable, external drive like the Western Digital "My Book" in about a 300GB size.

300GB would let you store about 75 games if each was 4GB in size.
You can of course get a PC internal drive of a large size for pretty cheap these days at places like Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com

I do have those, but i am asking is it better to use dvd decreypter to make an iso or is it better to use alcohol to make mdf? i mean whats the difference between these 2?

there is no real difference. It is more personal preference. I would always suggest DVD Decrypter to both make and burn the game if you have it. I used that for years and it has never failed me when doing back ups of PS2 games, or when burning Xbox game ISO's

alright thanks for your help. I guess i will try dvd decrypter to back them up in my hd and wait for an year or so after i used up my 200 pieces of crap... sigh
