Which hdd (asides from the official Sony hdd) would be best?

find what you want then check it against that chart.
Seagate or Maxtor are the easiest to install
and a 250 or 300GB size will suite most games just fine.

Also you will need HD Advanced to load games. Unless of course you have good mod chip that will do it like the DMS4 Pro or Crystal Chip V2.0
