cwcheats hates me . can some one help

i have serched and found may guides on how to use cwcheats but nothing works . i downloaded the cheat.db file and put it in the right directory but when i load the game and then try loading the cheats i get nothing . nothing is changed . also when i try to manualy input codes on the psp p press x and nothing happes. im probly doing somthing rong and it is pissing em off. can someone point me to a guide that is simple to understand.

which cfw u using, cuz i think it may be bugged with 3.51 M## and also i think you have to access it in the recovery menu plugins if im not mistaken
